WINTHROP — Matt Beck scored 13 points and Andrew Foster added 11 to help the Winthrop boys basketball team earn a narro2w 49-48 victory over Mountain Valley on Thursday.
Andrew Foster added 11 points for the Ramblers (11-3).
Airick Richard rang up the game-high 24 points, Zach New had 11 and Brayden Duguay dropped in 10 points for the Falcons (6-8).
RANGELEY 67, VINALHAVEN 42: The Lakers (3-7) erupted with 19 points in the fourth quarter and Trevor Dolbier and Boden Washington each scored 17 points in a victory over the Vikings (3-4) at Gilman Street Gym in Waterville.
Chase Carmichael helped out 13 points for Rangeley.
Vinalhaven’s Sam Wentworth scored a team-high 11 points.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 49, DIRIGO 40: Jace Bessey scored 17 points and helped lead the undefeated Phoenix(14-0) past the stubborn Cougars (11-5) in Dixfield.
Elie Timler chipped in 10 points Spruce Mountain.
Dirigo’s Charlie Houghton delivered a team-high 18 points and Trenton Hutchinson dropped in 14.
ST. DOMINIC 67, ISLESBORO 40: The Saints (10-4) earned their 10th win over the season by jumping out to a big lead and cruising past the Eagles (7-4) in Isleboro.
St. Dom’s led 24-12 after one quarter, and 39-16 at halftime.
Taylor Varney drained three 3-pointers and paced the Saints with 19 points, all in the first half. Gabe Carey added 11 points, Michael Stowe and Campbell Perryman scored 10 apiece and Jonathan Tangilamesu finished with nine.
Alex Watson led Islesboro with 10 points, while Charlie Jagger scored nine and Sam Jagger had eight.
EDWARD LITTLE 66, THORNTON ACADEMY 60: The Red Eddies (13-2) led by 16 points after one quarter and held on to beat the Golden Trojans (10-5) in a showdown of two of the top teams in Class AA in Saco.
Edward Little — paced by John Shea’s nine points, Pat Anthoine’s seven and Marshal Adams’ six — outscored Thornton 22-6 in the opening quarter. William Davies (24 points) scored all six of the Trojans’ points in the period.
The Red Eddies added two points to their lead in the second quarter, and led 37-18 at half, before the Trojans cut eight points off of the lead in the third and four more in the fourth.
Shea topped all scorers with 30 points, including 10-for-13 shooting at the free-throw line. Anthoine,
LEWISTON 58, WINDHAM 35: The Blue Devils (12-4) used a team effort to take down the Eagles (2-13) in Lewiston.
Lewiston’s Ring Ring led a spread out offensive attack with 12 points. Ring was one of nine Blue Devils to score Thursday night. Ali Abdullahi tacked on nine points in the win.
Windham’s Nick Garrison led all scorers with 14 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
RANGELEY 71, VINALHAVEN 32: Emily Eastlack scored 19 points and Isa Whittier added 18 as the Lakers (8-1) leaped out to a 41-13 lead at halftime and eventually overpowered the Vikings (0-7) at Gilman Street Gym in Waterville.
The Lakers also got double-digit performances by Winnie LaRochelle (14 points) and Cheyanne Avery (10).
Maddie Miller scored a team-high 19 points for the Vikings.
WINDHAM 48, LEWISTON 26: Sarah Talon led the Eagles (11-5) to a home win over the Blue Devils (7-9) in Windham.
Talon scored 18 for Windham on eight field goals and two free throws. Kayla Flanders chipped in 12 points on four 3-pointers.
Lewiston’s Natalie Beaudoin led the Blue Devils with nine points.
THORNTON ACADEMY 59, EDWARD LITTLE 43: Addisen Sulikowsk knocked down five 3-pointers and scored the game-high 23 points to lead the Trojans (12-3) past the Red Eddies (2-13) in Auburn.
Hannah Cook contributed to the Thornton’s cause with 12 points.
Rachel Penny led Edward Little with 11 points.
ST. DOMINIC 54, ISLESBORO 14: The Saints (5-8) earned a decisive win over the Eagles (0-8) in Islesboro.
Jessie Zimmerman led all scorers with 14 points, and teammate Ava Apodaca added 13 in the win. The Saints were able to shut out the Eagles in both the first and third quarters.
Islesboro was paced by Rosie Brimley’s 10 points.
GIRLS HOCKEY
CHEVERUS/OLD ORCHARD BEACH/KENNEBUNK/WINDHAM 5, ST. DOMINIC/WINTHROP/GRAY-NG/MONMOUTH 1: Cheverus/Old Orchard Beach/Kennebunk/Windham scored three goals in the first period to help cruise past St. Dominic/Winthrop/Gray-NG/Monmouth at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.
Brynne McKenney, Olivia Bradford, Elle Cooney, Charlotte Miller and Lucy Johnson each netted one goal for Cheverus/Old Orchard Beach/Kennebunk/Windham. Ella Lemieux racked up nine saves.
Gabrielle Allen was assisted by Emma Roy for St. Dominic/Winthrop/Gray-NG/Monmouth’s goal. Aubrey White made 15 saves.
