WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
CMCC 70, SMCC 61: Emily Strachan went off for 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Mustangs’ (20-3, 9-2 YSCC) rivalry win over the SeaWolves (17-3, 11-2 YSCC) in South Portland.

Eliza Brault added 10 points and eight rebounds for Central Maine Community College, which took control with a 20-3 second quarter after trailing 19-15 at the end of the first.

Hannah Richards led Southern Maine with 27 points, and Tara Flanders pitched in nine points and 11 rebounds.

BATES 74, BOWDOIN 61: The Bobcats (13-6, 5-3 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (16-7, 5-4) for the second time this season, this time at Alumni Gym in Lewiston.

Bates’ Meghan Graff led all scorers with 19 points, while teammates Morgan Kennedy and Ariana Dalia added 13 points apiece. Dalia also had 10 rebounds. Taylor McVeigh grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked three shots for the Bobcats.

On Dec. 1, Bates beat Bowdoin 74-70 to earn its first victory over the Polar Bears since 2013.

Sela Kay scored a team-high 18 points for Bowdoin. Megan Tan added 12 and Tori Beck had 11.

MAINE 64, ALBANY 55:  Anne Simon and Alba Orois had 17 points apiece to lead the way for the Black Bears (12-10, 9-3 America East) as they pick up their sixth straight victory, downing the Great Danes (16-7, 9-3) at Orono.

Caroline Bornemann, Maeve Carroll and Paula Gallego contributed 10 points each.

Kayla Cooper led Albany with 17 points.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
UMF 84, BOWDOIN 75: Terion Moss’ 33 points propelled the Beavers (12-6) to a win over the Polar Bears (11-12) in Brunswick.

Moss’ output included 12-of-12 shooting at the free-throw line. Jack Kane added 16 points for the Beavers, while Nathan Poulin scored 14 and Zach Brown had 11.

Bowdoin was led by James McGowan’s 18 points and Manav Randhawa’s 16.

SMCC 81, CMCC 73:  Ian Regan had 18 points to lead the way for the Seawolves (15-5, 12-1 YSCC) who had all five starters in double-digits and defeated the Mustangs (10-11, 5-7) at South Portland.

Zach Markle had 17 points for SMCC, Cameren Cousins added 12 and Jack Pyzynski and DeSean Cromwell chipped in 11 apiece.

Corey David scored 19 to lead CMCC.
