HINCKLEY — The L. C. Bates Museum art summer exhibition, Wilderness and Culture, is due to open May 7 with a virtual reception from 4 to 6 p.m.
The exhibition, which includes 35 works by 20 artists, is curated by Colby students María Minuesa and Caroline Scarola, under the guidance of Professor Véronique Plesch.
In addition to the exhibition, the museum has begun creating a science resource lending library for teachers and families. This resource aims to be supportive to the visitors of the museum and trails. It will be available for elementary school classroom learning, according to the news release from the museum.
The library will include hands-on items to explore to learn about Maine habitats and their inhabitants. The museum seeks volunteers to help develop and assemble the library.
The museum also seeks support to help with trail pickup, assembling Kid’s Kits, Making Science Library resources, fundraising and cataloging collections.
