Kaitlyn Bilodeau of Leeds, a senior at Leavitt Area High School in Turner, has been selected to receive the 2022 Principal’s Award, according to a news release from Principal Eben Shaw.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Over the last four years Kaitlyn has been an active member of the student body. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as a varsity soccer player and member of the track team. In addition to her hard work during the school year, Kaitlyn has extended her academic work into the summer by participating in our Leavitt Summer Institute,” said Shaw noted in making this announcement. “Kaitlyn is an exemplary student and well deserving of this recognition.”
Bilodeau, Shaw and other award winners and their principals were to participate in a live virtual scholarship drawing April 1.
Ten $1,000 scholarships were to be drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
