AREA — At Wheelers Insurance, there are lots of changes coming this way as a team of twelve navigates a 155-year-old business. Wheelers was once family-owned and is now completely employee-owned. To add to this, recently in December 2021, Wheelers made a few role changes. Mike Newsom, the former CEO of Wheelers, has now passed the torch to the beloved, Michelle Walker, Albany Township native. Michelle is Wheelers Insurance’s first-ever female CEO.
Michelle’s journey at Wheelers started in 2013, when she joined the team to have a closer commute and craved that healthy work/life balance. Pushing through her own shy personality, she has taken on true leadership roles at the agency to make work-life better for everyone.
“What can’t this woman do?” is the question. Michelle does it all, whether it’s battling conflicting employee feelings and making work culture better through HR, taking on all the tedious finances as a bookkeeper, or just being the confidant that any Wheelers employee can go to for support and advice. Michelle Walker is a true asset to Wheelers Insurance and our communities.
Outside of work, Michelle Walker is a mom of two daughters, two boxers, two cats, and a hamster. And an amazing spouse to her honey, Jeremy. She also spends her time on the board of Team Hailey Hugs. Michelle is truly a superwoman in all our eyes.
