Presentation on PFAS

BETHEL — On Thursday, May 12, at 6 p.m. at the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum, Keith R. Taylor will give a talk titled “PFAS: Technical Considerations and Case Studies.”

PFAS is a family of chemicals that have been in the headlines across the country due to the discovery of them just about everywhere, their persistence in the environment, and their potential health hazards.

Here in Maine, the primary source has been the decades of biosolid (septic sludge) spreading on farm fields that have contaminated hundreds of private wells.

This presentation will present some chemistry basics, Maine regulatory guidelines, and several case studies.

The museum is located at 99 Main St.
