AUBURN — A police cruiser was damaged and an officer suffered minor injuries Thursday morning after a collision at Elm and High streets.
Police said Taylor Korfhage-Poret of New Hampshire was headed north on High Street in a delivery van when his vehicle slammed into the driver’s side of the police cruiser, being driven west on Elm Street.
Police said the cruiser was not responding to an emergency at the time of the wreck. Early indications were that Korfhage-Poret failed to yield to the officer’s right of way, which led to the collision.
No charges are expected.
The police officer, who was not identified, was taken to a Lewiston hospital to be examined for what was described as a minor leg injury.
The cruiser had to be towed from the scene, while Korfhage-Poret was able to drive the van away. The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department was investigating.
