AUBURN — Five St. Dominic Academy seniors signed Letters of Intent on Monday to continue their athletic careers in college.
Kathleen Dean signed to play field hockey at NCAA Division II St. Michael’s College in Vermont and Emma Roy will play Division II lacrosse at Dominican University in California.
Gabe Carey (UMaine-Presque Isle) and Jessica Zimmerman (Norwich University in Vermont) will be playing Division III basketball, and Michael Stowe will play Division III lacrosse at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
SOFTBALL
LEAVITT 12, GARDINER 6: A seven-run fourth inning bolstered the Hornets (7-5) as they handed the Tigers (9-1) their first loss of the season in Turner.
Nola Boutaugh hit a home run and a triple to lead the Hornets, while teammate Sam Withee hit four singles. Abby Albert pitched 6 1/3 innings.
Gardiner’s Lainey Cooley hit three singles, and Brooke Gero and Maddie Inman each notched a triple.
BUCKFIELD 11, OAK HILL 1: Carmen Crockett pitched a gem for the Bucks (3-7) in their win over the Raiders (4-5) in Buckfield.
Crockett, a freshman, went six innings, giving up three hits and striking out eight batters. She also had a pair of hits, while Alyssa Litchfield notched three hits, including a triple, for Buckfield.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 10, TELSTAR 9: Brooke Brown homered and the Falcons (3-7) pulled ahead with a four-run third inning and then matched the Rebels (5-6) run-for-run the remainder of the game to earn a MVC victory in Rumford.
Telstar opened the scoring with a three-run second and led 4-1 heading into the bottom of the third, after which Mountain Valley led 5-4. Each team added three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Brown also doubled and finished with three RBIs and two runs. Mallorie Bourret had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run for the Falcons, and Autumn Freeman added two hits, including a double, two RBIs and one run.
Alison Legere earned the complete-game win for Mountain Valley, striking out seven in seven innings. Rebels pitcher Maylyn Hastings fanned five in six innings.
Telstar’s Mackenzie Eliot had a game-high four hits and three RBIs. Leah Kimball (one RBI) and Karen Marshall (two runs, one RBI) added two hits apiece. Natasha Mason doubled and Morgan Zetts scored two runs.
OXFORD HILLS 9, MESSALONSKEE 2: The Vikings (9-1) scored two runs in the first inning and six in the second to put away the Eagles (3-7) in Paris.
Maddy Miller pitched six innings and earned the win for Oxford Hills. At the plate, Kaydence Morse hit a home run to help the Vikings in the victory.
Messalonskee’s Jordan Lambert hit a double and a home run.
POLAND 5, CAPE ELIZABETH 2: Atlantis Martin had a hit and two RBIs and scattered two runs and five hits across five innings to lead the Knights (10-0) over the Capers (8-3) in Cape Elizabeth.
Emma Bunyea finished with a homer and a single, two runs scored and an RBI for Poland. Khloe O’Leary added three hits, including two doubles, and Gretchyn Paradis pitched two perfect innings of relief for the save.
Kathryne Clay and Esme Song each had an RBI for Cape.
ST. DOM’S SWEEPS TRAIP: The Saints (11-1) were victorious in both ends of a doubleheader against the Rangers (0-13) in Auburn.
In a 9-1 win, St. Dom’s scored five runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Pilar Hewey.
Kathleen Dean earned the the win, striking out five in five innings. She also had three hits.
Dean added nine more strikeouts while holding Traip to two hits in the second game, a 10-1 St. Dom’s victory.
Dean also started the Saints’ offense with an RBI triple in the first. Cami Casserly and Emily Andrews each had three hits for St. Dom’s.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 6, MT. ABRAM 5: The Phoenix (4-6) earned a walk-off win over the Roadrunners (2-7) in Jay.
Leah Burgess was hit by a pitch with one out in the bottom of the seventh for Spruce Mountain, then Makinlee Holt hit a double to drive home Burgess for the winning run.
Jadyn Pingree earned the win in the circle for the Phoenix.
HALL-DALE 10, DIRIGO 0, 6 INNINGS: Ashlynn Donahue and Rita Benoit combined for a no-hitter as the Bulldogs (9-0) blanked the Cougars (4-5) in Farmingdale.
Donahue pitched three innings and struck out five batters for Hall-Dale before Benoit entered to pitch the final three. Lexi Rideout had three hits for the Bulldogs, and Benoit and Zoe Soule had two apiece. Hall-Dale totaled 13 hits on the day.
Grace Robbins was the losing pitcher for Dirigo. She had one strikeout.
BASEBALL
CAPE ELIZABETH 5, POLAND 4: It took the Capers (5-6) 10 innings to secure a victory over the Knights (4-5) in Cape Elizabeth.
Colin Smith hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning for Cape Elizabeth. Curtis Sullivan pitched six innings in relief to earn the win, striking out seven. Gabe Harmon, Josh Smith and Sullivan each doubled.
Poland’s Hunter Gibson hit four singles, while Adam Gwarjanski pitched eight innings. Adam MacFawn had a two-run single in the third and scored a run in the fifth.
DIRIGO 4, HALL-DALE 2, 11 INNINGS: The Cougars scored two runs in the 11th inning to earn the MVC win in Farmingdale.
Drew Collins led the Dirigo (5-4) offense with four singles, while Dakota Tompkins and Trent Holman added two singles apiece.
Hall-Dale (7-3) was led by Cody Dupont with two singles and Ben Nathan with a double.
LISBON 20, CARRABEC 1, 5 INNINGS: Mason Booker cracked two doubles and earned the win on the mound as the Greyhounds cruised over the Cobras in a Mountain Valley Conference game in North Anson.
Riley Turner had two hits, including a double, for Lisbon (9-0).
Carrabec falls to 1-7.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 5, TELSTAR 3: Seneca Jones took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, then the Falcons (2-8) held off the Rebels (1-10) in Rumford.
Mountain Valley plated three runs in the third inning then added a couple more in the sixth on a two-run double by Rilan Farnum.
Those two runs provided much-needed insurance, as Telstar plated three runs in the top of the seventh inning before Falcons reliever Tanner Henry shut down the Rebels’ rally.
Telstar’s Anthony Conant broke up Jones’ no-hitter with a single in the sixth.
MT. ABRAM 2, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: The Roadrunners (6-2) earned an extra-inning victory over the Phoenix (5-5) in Jay.
A pitchers’ duel between Mt. Abram’s Trevor Phelps and Spruce Mountain’s Isaac Parker kept the game scoreless through seven innings before Mt. Abram scored two runs in the eighth.
Wyatt Siemenski hit an RBI single and Ian Allen drove in another run with a sacrifice fly. Siemenski led all batters with two hits. Phelps gave up three hits and struck out eight batters in eight innings.
Parker gave up five hits and two runs while striking out eight batters for Spruce. He also had a hit at the plate.
OAK HILL 25, BOOTHBAY 1: The Raiders (5-4) scored 10 runs in the fourth inning in a decisive win over the Seahawks (0-8) in Boothbay.
Ethan Vattaso hit a home run, a double and single to lead Oak Hill. He also pitched 2 2/3 innings, striking out five batters. Jamison Bergeron added two doubles, while Jackson Arbour, Silas Dumont, Trent Drouin and Landon Bangs each notched a double.
Boothbay’s Gryffin Kristan hit an RBI double.
OXFORD HILLS 8, MESSALONSKEE 2: The Vikings (9-1) got going in the middle innings to ground the Eagles (5-5) in Paris.
Eli Soehren hit a triple at the plate, and on the mound gave up just two runs on five hits and struck out eight. Andrew Merrill tallied two hits for Oxford Hills, which scored two runs in the third, five in the fourth and its final run in the fifth.
Joseph Ardito led Messalonskee with two hits.
LEAVITT 7, GARDINER 3: The Hornets (5-7) scored five runs in the second inning and hung on to defeat the Tigers (0-9) in Turner.
Jake Mellen’s single jump-started Leavitt’s five-run outburst, and Aiden Lind smacked a double. Noah Carpenter struck out six batters and earned the win.
Gardiner’s Ryan Banister tallied four hits, including a pair of doubles.
GIRLS LACROSSE
LEWISTON 18, BANGOR 6: Becca Lussier led the offense for the Blue Devils (3-6) as they opened up a 10-4 halftime margin and handled the Rams (1-5) in Lewiston.
Lussier netted five goals, and Mya Grant and Lilly Gish tossed in four goals each for Lewiston. Leah Dube added a pair of goals, while Ceci Miller, Leah Landry and Julia Perkins also scored.
Laila Martinez scored four goals for Bangor.
MT. ARARAT 23, EDWARD LITTLE 1: Madison Kinney scored six goals and freshman Evelyn Goudreau added five as the Eagles rolled past the Red Eddies in Topsham.
Grace Phillips and Elsa Daulerio each scored two goals to lead the Eagles.
Amanda Pickens had four saves for Mt. Ararat.
