BETHEL — The Telstar Varsity Rebels softball team ran their win streak to five games, improving their record to 5-3 in the process with a home field 10-6 victory over the visiting Carrabec Cobras. After falling behind 1-0 early, the Rebels scored four runs in the fourth inning and added six more in the fifth inning.
Makenzie Eliot pitched and went the distance for the Rebels, striking out 11 and yielding three hits. Eliot helped her own cause, going two for four at the plate and driving in two runs. One of Eliot’s hits was a triple, the sophomore slugger’s third game in a row launching a three-bagger for the Rebels offense.
Leah Kimball had a standout game, making two run-saving plays at second base early in the game, and added two hits while driving in three runs. Karen Marshall went two for two, driving in two runs, while Sarah Chase added a hit and an RBI. Karen Marshall stole two bases, while Leah Kimball, Maylyn Hastings, Rylee Cooper, Katie Evans, Sarah Chase,’ and Macie Hallett all stole a base.
Shyanne Holmes pitched well for the Cobras, striking out twelve and adding two hits on offense.
