AFCI
The Our Towns Project, funded by an AARP grant: you’ve seen our pictures of the wonderful Congo Craftsmen making benches and picnic tables to be gifted to our six member towns. With lively colors and appropriate themes, they’ve all been beautifully decorated by Kate Webb (BAAM) and Freshman Academy students, and have lovely plaques donated by Amanda Moran Designs.
Soon they will be placed in their new homes: In Bethel, benches at the Town Office, the NorthStar garden, the Methodist Church, and the ice rink in winter, as well as tables at the garden and church. In Gilead, a bench at the park. In Greenwood, tables at the boat launch, the beach, and Maggie’s Park. In Hanover, a bench at the town office.
In Newry, a bench at the covered bridge. In Woodstock, a table at the town common. For a sneak preview, a few refreshments, and conversation with AFCI friends, visit us on Election Day, Tuesday, June 14; you’ll be there anyway, as the celebrations are on the grounds of your polling stations. Do join us!
We regret that our Handy Neighbor Chores program does not have the capacity to fulfill requests at this time.
Watch for more information about their fall workday.
The Age-Friendly Community Initiative held its first AFCI Conversation a few weeks ago – this one on “Food and Our Community,” facilitated by Dave Bean, Meryl Kelly, and Bonnie Pooley. You may watch the entire session on our local WHAT TV station: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLePBGJ0Wl8.
