WALES — The Board of Selectmen on Tuesday night discussed options for snowplowing.
One bid has been received and the board will meet with another company soon.
The bidder offered a “lower-than-average” price, according to Bill Austin, public works chief. The town will provide salt and sand.
On another matter, Austin said tool boxes and lights need to be installed on the new truck.
The board approved a request to sell unneeded equipment and materials, including a chain saw, a tow-behind mower and a 2004 Ford F-550 that doesn’t run.
Turning to improving the Fire Station, the department bought and installed new lockers for gear. Fire Chief Scott Dimmick also plans to clean the station of old and outdated gear, and perform regular cleaning of the eye washing system.
Dimmick also announced a cookout for the Fire Department will be held Aug. 7 and a hand tub competition Aug. 13 at the Town Office. A group of people pumps an antique hand tub fire engine to see how far they can spray water. It is sponsored by the New England States Veteran Fireman’s League and the Masonic Lodge.
