LISBON — The Moxie Festival Committee has announced the winners of the recent 2022 Miss Moxie Pageant. The Miss Moxie Pageant was first held in the early 1990s when the event was a staple of the annual festival. In June 2019 the Miss Moxie pageant was brought back under new directorship and was held for two years before the third-year the event had to be cancelled because of the pandemic. This year along with the Moxie Festival all festivities were held, according to a news release from the committee.

The winners across age categories were Tiny Miss Moxie Charlotte Martin, Miss Moxie Young Princess Madelynn Mishou, Miss Moxie Elementary Princess Abigail Sias, Miss Moxie Preteen Princess Olivia Kelley. Miss Moxie Teen Leah Herrick, Miss Moxie Kasey Jordan and Ms. Moxie Sasha Rea.

A special optional competition that some contestants competed in was for the Miss Moxie Ambassador Award. To win this award the contestant that brings in the most non-perishable food items to donate to LACO Lisbon Area Christian Organization wins. The Miss Moxie contestants brought in more than 1,200 items to donate to LACO and Miss Aleiah Ward won the prestigious Miss Moxie Ambassador award by donating more than 300 items.

The winners participated in the Moxie Festival Parade as well as other festival activities and will be participating in Lisbon community events throughout the coming year. The event was emceed by the current Ms. Maine Pettite Alison Lee. The judges were Jessica MacNeill, United States of America’s Miss Maine 2022; Kat Pinkham, National SLICC Ambassador Ms/Mrs 2021; and Erica LeClair Ms Maine Agriculture. The contestants were judged on a number of categories, including personal interviews.

Celebrating Maine’s official soft drink, the Moxie Festival always takes place in Lisbon on the second weekend in July. Mark your calendars for July 12-14, 2023.
