100 Years Ago: 1922

A troop of boys under the leadership of Warren Jordan,  a well known Lewiston man left Wednesday noon for a four-day hike. They plan to camp at Tripp Pond Wednesday evening, Panther Pond, Raymond, Thursday evening and will start the return trip Friday.

The troop consists of Warren Jordan, his son, William, Gordan Waite, Carl Soule, Fanner Hass, and the two Lane brothers.

50 Years Ago: 1972

Miss Rosalie M. Woodhead of Lewiston has been awarded $25 as one of 20 recent winners in the employee suggestion plan conducted by the New England Telephone & Telegraph Co. Miss Woodhead was honored for recommending a change in the method of notation of the daily addendum sheets used by directory assistance. Her suggestion will now be considered for a special-merit award as all initial award winners are automatically considered for awards ranging from $5 to $1,000 for top recommendations. Miss Woodhead is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Woodhead of Summer Street, Lewiston.

25 Years Ago: 1997

The Community Day Planning Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, in the Ricker Memorial Library Community Room. Members will work on plans for the 10th annual Community Day to be held on Sept. 13 at the Poland Community School. All committee members and volunteers willing to work on Community Day are invited. FMI call co-chairs Rhonda and Charlie Pomerleau or the library.
