Seniors interested in learning more about the Senior College Players in Bethel, as well as the possibility of joining the troupe, are invited to attend a meeting scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the home of Jack Kuchta, 2203 Main St. in Hanover.
New faces and veteran thespians alike have been meeting monthly during spring and summer to review scripts to consider for their fall performance, held the weekend of Nov. 18-20, according to a news release from Western Maine Senior College.
Of special interest is a follow-play to “The Pie Ladies,” a comedy presented three years ago. Titled “The Pie Ladies Make Bail,” the ladies are involved in another comedy. This play will be included in the fall performance along with a selection of short one-act plays.
Ray Leghart, facilitator, stresses that experience is not needed, just an interest in joining for the fun of performing for friends and neighbors. “What makes Senior Players theater different from regular theater groups, is that they carry their scripts with them. Memorizing is not necessary,” he added.
Senior College Players is a course offered by Western Mountains Senior College in Bethel, and seniors 50 and older can join. Interested persons younger than 50 can join as associate members.
For more information or to reserve a spot at the Aug. 18 meeting, call Kuchta at 207-364-3137.
