To the Editor:

Sadly, our town has lost a quiet, unassuming woman, Sandra Frye, who passed away recently. Sandra owned and operated the Chapman Inn until the pandemic damaged her tourist-dependent business.

I feel her loss because she and her late partner, Fred Nolte, very generously allowed the Bethel Garden Club volunteers to hook up their hose to the Chapman Inn for watering the flowers on the two traffic islands at the top of Main Street.

The Chapman Inn is being renovated by its new owners, who have also graciously allowed the Garden club to use their water, for which we are grateful.

It seems fitting that we publicly acknowledge Sandra Frye and Fred Nolte’s quiet contribution to the beauty of Bethel.
