After a flurry of last-minute ticket buying at Sweden Days on Saturday, Aug. 6, the winning ticket was drawn at 12:30 p.m. outside the historic restored school house. The winner was Dr. David Sundwall of Sweden and Salt Lake City, Utah. Sundwall donated his $894 in winnings back to the pantry, according to a news release from organizers.
The 50/50 raffle was made possible because of all who purchased tickets from Sweden Food Pantry volunteers and board members.
This is the second year in a row that the event has held a 50/50 raffle as an important fundraiser in conjunction with the popular town event, Sweden Days.
The Sweden Food Pantry is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The pantry serves the towns of Sweden, Lovell, Fryeburg, Stow, Stoneham, Waterford, Harrison and Bridgton. The pantry does not turn away any eligible family.
