AUBURN — The Center for Workforce and Professional Development at Central Maine Community College (CMCC) is partnering with Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education Office and offering free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training from October 3 – December 22.

The CNA course is taught by a registered nurse and includes introductory concepts of nursing care, anatomy and physiology, nutritional and medication care, and disease management. Successful candidates complete a total of 130 hours of coursework, consisting of 70 hours of in-person instruction, 20 hours of lab time, and 40 hours of clinical work. The skills lab and exam are also free. Students who successfully complete the course and pass the certification exam will be eligible for immediate employment.

Two additional cohorts will be offered through Lewiston Adult Education in January 2023 and Region 9 Adult Education in March 2023.

This program is funded by the Maine Jobs and Recovery Program (MJRP). Participants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma, GED, or HiSET, and be a U.S. citizen and/or authorized to work in the U.S. Criminal background check and current flu and Covid vaccination records will be required. MJRP-funded courses are designed for candidates who have been impacted by Covid-19 or are dislocated, unemployed, or underemployed. Underemployed can be considered as working part-time but looking for full-time work or working in an occupation below one’s skillset.
