RUMFORD — Rumford resident Rachel Henderson has announced her intentions to run for the House of Representatives this November. Current State Representative Josanne Dolloff, who withdrew from the race in July, volunteered to be her campaign treasurer.
Reached for comment this week, Henderson highlighted her interest in being a voice for local families who sometimes feel forgotten about by elected officials.
“After working with the public most of my adult life, I have really fallen in love with the people in this area. My line of work has provided me the opportunity to serve the River Valley residents in a unique way, and am ready to take that to the next level. We have all seen how drastic things have changed over the last 2.5 years, and I found myself tired of just talking about it; I wanted to take action. Being as connected as I am with the people in our community, I’ve heard some real concern from our families on what the upcoming months will bring.”
Henderson continued “I love my country, and I love my state. Maine is spectacular in so many ways. It not only produces dramatic, yet beautiful seasons, it produces tough and resourceful people. People who deserve to have elected officials who are just as tough and resourceful as those they represent.”
Rep. Josanne Dolloff offered support for the campaign by saying she is “confident that Rachel Henderson is the right person to represent our community in Augusta. She shares our values, knows what it means to put in a hard day’s work, and will be a strong advocate for the people. She has my vote, and will be working hard to earn many more this fall. I urge all of my supporters who have voted for me over the years to cast your ballot for Rachel Henderson for State Representative.”
Residents interested in helping with the campaign or who are interested in her stance on the issues are encouraged to contact Rachel by email at rachel.hendersonme@yahoo.com, or follow her on Facebook by searching “Rachel Henderson State Representative- House District 78.”
