100 Years Ago: 1922
The 19th exhibition of the reorganized Farmers Club will be held on the trotting park next Tuesday. Besides a big cattle show, there will be a hall display, pulling matches and other features. Automobiles will meet the electric cars at Bachelder’s Crossing to carry people to the grounds.
50 Years Ago: 1972
The Jewish Center Youth, made up of teenagers of families belonging to the Jewish Community Center, met Tuesday night and elected David Izenstatt as president for the coming year. The other officers are Maria Zack, vice president; Kenny Goodman, treasurer; and Donni Isaacson, secretary. The teen club at the Center is open every Tuesday night from 7 to 9:30 with a gym, game room, music and refreshments.
25 Years Ago: 1997
The grand opening at the newest Applebee’s will be held on Monday, Sept. 29 at 11 am at the restaurant on Center Street across from the Auburn Mall.
General Manager Steve Garside and Manager Mark Emery said Miss USA Kathryn Morse will do the honors of welcoming Applebee’s to the Lewiston-Auburn community by cutting a ribbon to their doors during a brief ceremony. The cities of Androscoggin are invited to share at the celebration with the Applebee’s staff.
