LEWISTON — Southern Maine Squadron SAFB (Sampson Air Force Base) plans to get together for lunch at noontime Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Governors Restaurant, 1185 Lisbon St.

The squadron was formed by a group of veterans that went to SAFB on the shores of Senaca Lake near Geneva New York for basic training.

Sampson was a Naval Training Station from 1942-1945 and an Air Force Base from 1950-56, according to a news release from Bob Sawyer.

Veterans of all branches and their guests are welcome to join, according to a news release from Bob Sawyer.
