As a party, Republicans leave a lot to be desired.
The Conservative Political Action Conference invited the Hungarian autocrat, Viktor Orban, to speak. Many Republicans praise him.
The Maine Republican platform wants to eliminate the state income tax, prevent any talk in schools about transgender students, not just in early grades but through high school. It would prevent any sexually-based material until grade 12. They want to prevent teaching true history under the guise of critical race theory.
Republicans would attempt to take away a woman’s right to choose. Many would take away the right of same sex couples to marry. Many believe the lie that our last election was rigged. Many already say if they do not win it is because of a rigged election.
It is Republicans who want to censor what books are in our libraries. They want to make it more difficult to exercise our right and obligation to vote.
I ask people to think very carefully about our rights before casting their vote.
