I disagree with Mark LaFlamme (“Gun violence in Lewiston-Auburn: Don’t blame constitutional carry,” Oct. 11).
We can blame a lot of the gun violence on letting any idiot that wants to lug a loaded gun in their pocket do so. One law won’t cure everything.
If the concealed permit law were still in effect, the killer in the Auburn Walmart parking lot shooting might not have had a gun on him and that man would be alive today. If such a law makes people think twice before grabbing a gun, it’s worth it.
I have been a hunter and gun owner for 60 years and am tired of the “all or nothing” from the gun lobby.
A gun is the most dangerous thing most people will ever handle, and it should be treated as such.
