DIXFIELD — Top-seeded Dirigo received all of the scoring it needed from two first-quarter goals, then the defense went to work and shut out Foxcroft Academy 5-0 in a Class C North field hockey semifinal Saturday.
The Cougars (13-3), who have won eight straight games, will face No. 2 MCI (12-3-1) in the regional final Wednesday at Gardiner.
Grace Averill and Jayce Brophy scored in the first quarter to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead that held up until they added three more goals in the fourth. Kara Woods scored the first fourth-period goal, then Averill and Brophy each tallied their second of the game.
Lana Waite set up both of Brophy’s goals, and Averill, Grace Robbins and Emily Woods each contributed one assist.
Goalie Alivia Ellis stopped all fives shots she faced for the Cougars, whose defense notched its 10th shutout of the season and fifth in its last six games.
No. 5 Ponies (8-8) goalie Emma Bither finished with eight saves.
YORK 2, LEAVITT 0: The top-seeded Wildcats (15-1) got goals from Abigail Armlin and Abby Dickson in a two-minute span in the second quarter as they advanced to the Class B South final with a victory over the fourth-seeded Hornets (12-4) in York.
York avenged a loss to Leavitt in last year’s regional semifinals. The Wildcats next face third-seeded Freeport on Wednesday at Biddeford’s Waterhouse Field.

MT. ABRAM 3, MONMOUTH 0: The second-seeded Roadrunners (15-1) defeated the third-seeded Mustangs (12-3-1) for the third time this season to win the Class C South semifinal in Salem and advance to the regional final for the second consecutive year.
Mt. Abram, which as won 14 games in a row, including five straight shutouts, will meet No. 1 Waynflete (14-1-1) in the C South final at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham on Wednesday.
Morgan Thibodeau, Charlie Pye and Sam Cockerham each scored for the Roadrunners. Thibodeau and Pye also assisted on a goal each, as did Jose Torres.
Mt. Abram goalie duo Trey Reed and Logan Dube each made two saves. Hunter Frost stopped three shots for the Mustangs.
GIRLS SOCCER
YARMOUTH 1, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Macy Gilroy and Ava Feeley scored in the second half, lifting the second-seeded Clippers (13-3) past the 11th-seeded Patriots (7-8-2) in a Class B South semifinal in Yarmouth.
Gilroy put in a cross from Aine Powers eight minutes into the second half, then delivered a cross than resulted in a header by Feeley with 10 minutes left.
Regan Sullivan made two saves for Yarmouth, which advanced to the regional final Wednesday at Lewiston High School against fifth-seeded York.
Gray-New Gloucester’s Isabelle Ross finished with eight saves.
