MEXICO — The town’s first Spooktacular Block Party and parade Saturday was deemed a success as dozens of people turned out to enjoy an evening of fun to celebration Halloween.
Costumed children lined Main Street for the parade, which included floats and fire engines. Afterward they walked on Gary Wentzell Lande behind the Town Hall to collect candy from volunteers who set up a trunk-or-treat. Terrific fall weather and the smell of food cooked by the Fire Department contributed to the party.

“I want to personally thank everyone that took part in the parade, did a trunk, cooked food, ran tables and came out to take part!” Town Manager Raquel Welch-Day said. “It was a great night of community fun. I am so proud to be the town manager of Mexico.”
She also thanked town employees who volunteered to help make it successful and the volunteers who brought their vehicles to set up the trunk-or-treat.
Welch-Day said plans are in the works by the Town Office for a Winter Festival at 165 Roxbury Road, the future site of the new Mexico Fire Station.
