LOCKES MILLS — American Legion Jackson-Silver Post 68 plans to present Veterans Day ceremonies Friday, Nov. 11, at 595 Gore Road; doors will open at 9:30 a.m.
Cmdr. Harry Orcutt will conduct the opening. The commemorative program will begin at 10:30 a.m. It will include posting the colors in place, the “National Anthem” by the Mahoosuc Community Band, the Pledge of Allegiance, and an opening prayer by the post chaplain, according to a news release from Orcutt.
Orcutt will give welcoming remarks and a Veterans Day address, followed by the bell ringing at 11 a.m., presentation of Post 68 certificates of appreciation, meritorious service, or participation; the Post 68 Color Guard with the firing squad rifle salute; and taps performed in dueling sequence, with music selected by Mahoosuc Community Band.
The ceremonies will end with the commander’s closing remarks, the singing of “God Bless America” and a closing prayer.
