BERLIN, N.H., — AVH Surgical Associates, the physician practice of Androscoggin Valley Hospital (AVH), a proud partner of North Country Healthcare (NCH), is pleased to welcome Dr. Tamsin Durand to its General Surgery Department. Dr. Durand graduated as a Medical Doctor and earned her Master’s degree in Public Health from St. George’s University, Grenada, in the West Indies. Dr. Durand completed her surgical residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

In addition to serving as General Surgeon at North Country Hospital in Newport, VT, since 2016, Dr. Durand will continue to serve the North Country by seeing patients at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital (UCVH) in Colebrook, and now also at AVH in Berlin. Dr. Durand offers a number of services including, but not limited to:

• Abdominal procedures including laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, open and laparoscopic hernia repair, open and laparoscopic surgery of the colon and intestine.
• Breast care including excision or biopsy of breast masses, lumpectomy and mastectomy, and lymph node biopsy
• Chest procedures including central line insertion and chest tube placement.
• Endoscopic gastrointestinal procedures including colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.
• Skin and soft tissue excisions, and wound care.
• Vascular evaluations.

Dr. Durand enjoys working closely with patients and she encourages them to visit for consults, both to ease their concerns and to expedite any treatment.
