FARMINGTON — University of Maine at Farmington needed all 35 of Terion Moss’s points as the Beavers held off in-state foe St. Joseph’s College 84-83 in overtime to win a non-conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Moss also added five steals and four assists for the Beavers (3-1), Jack Kane scored 17 points, blocked six shots and pulled down five rebounds, and Kyle Donlin grabbed a team-high six rebounds to go along with four assists and three points. Nathan Poulin notched 10 points and five rebounds off the bench for UMF, which nearly wasted a 49-36 halftime team lead.

Ashtyn Abbott exploded for 27 points and 14 rebounds off the bench for the Monks (2-3). John Paul Frazier scored 14 points and Griffin Foley and Nicholas Curtis added 11 apiece. Edward Little grad Cam Yorke recorded five points, seven assists, three rebounds and one steal off the bench.

USM 73, BATES 64: The Bobcats (1-2) let a seven-point lead at halftime slip in a loss to the Huskies (5-1) in Gorham.

Jahmir Primer scored a game-high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds for Bates, which led 42-35 at halftime. But the Bobcats could only muster 22 points in the second half. Stephen Ward grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and scored four points.

Clay Kuhn paced University of Southern Maine with 17 points, Mark Asare poured in 15 off the bench — including 4 of 7 shots from 3-point range — and Cody Hawes notched 11 points and nine rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
BATES’ DAULERIO NAMED TOP ROOKIE: Bates freshman Elsa Daulerio was named the Rookie of the Week by the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Daulerio, a Mt. Ararat grad and the daughter of former Bates player and current Dartmouth College coach Adrienne Shibles, averaged 9.5 points across two wins for the Bobcats over the past week. She grabbed seven rebounds apiece in the victories, including 12 points on 5 for 5 shooting as well as three steals and two blocks against Brooklyn College.

The center was also named to the MWBCA Player of the Week “honor roll” for her efforts. Classmate Sophie Spolter was selected to the Rookie of the Week “honor roll” after notching 11 points and 10 steals in a win over Medgar Evers College.

ST. JOE’S 88, UMF 48: Hannah Talon scored 16 of her 22 points in the second quarter as the Monks (3-2) accelerated to a lopsided victory over the Beavers (1-4) in Farmington.

The Monks scored 31 points in the second quarter to stretch a five-point lead to 23 points at the half.

Hailey Anderson added 14 points and Logan Brown had 13 for St. Joe’s. Both Nina Howe and Elisabeth Stapelfeld each added 10.

Grace Dwyer scored 18 points and Jaycie Stevens added 11 for UMF. Lisbon native Rosalie White recorded four points, one rebound and one block off the bench.

FIELD HOCKEY
COTE, LAMBERT TABBED FOR ALL-REGION: Bates College juniors Paige Cote and Kami Lambert each earned All-Region honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Cote was named a First Team All-Region selection for Region I, and Lambert was selected to the All-Region Second Team. There were 16 players each on the first and second teams. The NFHCA Regional Players of the Year will be announced Nov. 30.

Cote led the Bobcats with 13 assists and added six goals this season. Lambert paced Bates with 27 points, including a team-high 12 goals.

SWIMMING AND DIVING
WENGER WINS WEEKLY AWARD: Bates junior Grace Wenger was selected Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week by the New England Small College Athletic Conference on Tuesday.

Wenger won the 100 and 200 freestyle events in a season-opening meet against Wesleyan, to go along with posting a time of 58.94 in the 100 butterfly and a split of 23.6 in the 200 freestyle relay.

FOOTBALL
HOOKS, OLIVIERI EARN NESCAC HONORS: The NESCAC All-Conference teams were announced Tuesday, and Bates senior linebacker Tony Hooks and senior wide receiver Christian Olivieri were each named All-NESCAC.

Hooks was selected to the First Team Defense — his second straight season earning first-team honors — and Olivieri appeared on the Second Team Offense for the first time.

Olivieri put his name in the program record book with a single-game record 17 catches against Middlebury and 43 receptions for the season, good for fourth-most in a campaign. He finished the season with 680 yards and six touchdowns.

COLLEGE SPORTS
AREA GRADS GARNER LEC HONORS FOR USM: Among the 50 student-athletes from University of Southern Maine who were named to the Little East Conference Fall All-Academic Team on Tuesday were six area high school graduates.

Four USM field hockey players with area ties were selected to the All-Academic Team, including former Edward Little teammates Jordan Cummings and Emma Samson, Oxford Hills grad Brooke Carson and Oak Hill grad Adelle Surette.

Fellow Edward Little grad Ella Boucher was selected from the USM women’s soccer team, and Gray-New Gloucester grad Kailey Foley, a member of the USM women’s volleyball team, also garnered honors.
