COLUMBIA, S.C. — Aliyah Boston got her 66th career double-double and Kamilla Cardoso had a second straight game with double-figure points and rebounds as No. 1 South Carolina dominated underneath for a 79-54 women’s basketball victory over Memphis on Saturday.

Boston, the 6-foot-5 reigning AP Player of the Year, had 14 points and 10 rebounds. The 6-7 Cardoso finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, making 9 of 12 shots all from a foot or two away from the basket against the overmatched Tigers (4-4).

South Carolina started the season 8-0 for a second straight year and the sixth time in Coach Dawn Staley’s 15 seasons.

Memphis had no answers for South Carolina’s size and strength. The Tigers were outscored 60-14 in the paint and outrebounded 52-30. They lost their third straight, and second in a row to a Top-5 opponent after falling to No. 5 Indiana 79-64 on Nov. 26.

(19) OREGON 90, PORTLAND 51: Chance Gary scored 20 points, Phillipina Kyei had a double-double and the Ducks (6-1) ran away from the Pilots (5-4) in Eugene, Oregon.

(3) VIRGINIA 62, FLORIDA STATE 57: Kihei Clark scored 18 points and the Cavaliers (7-0) overcame poor shooting to beat win their 15th straight Atlantic Coast Conference opener, in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Virginia trailed 22-21 after both teams shot under 30% in the first half. The Cavaliers started the second half with a 22-9 run.

Florida State (1-9) scored the next six points, then didn’t score again for five minutes as the Cavaliers rebuilt their advantage.

RUTGERS 63, (10) INDIANA 48: Freshman guard Derek Simpson scored 10 straight points in a game-deciding run and the Scarlet Knights (6-2, 1-0 Big Ten) got their sixth straight win over the Hoosiers (7-1, 0-1), at Piscataway, New Jersey.

(11) ARKANSAS 99, SAN JOSE STATE 58: Trevon Brazile scored 23 points and the Razorbacks (7-1) broke away in the second half against the Spartans (6-3) in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Arkansas led 40-35 at halftime.

(17) DUKE 75, BOSTON COLLEGE 59: Mark Mitchell scored 15 points and Kyle Filipowski posted 13 points and 10 rebounds for the freshman’s fifth double-double as the Blue Devils (8-2, 1-0 ACC) beat the Eagles (5-4, 0-1) in Durham, North Carolina.

CJ Penha scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half for Boston College, which has lost eight straight to Duke.

(25) OHIO STATE 96, ST. FRANCIS 59: Brice Sensabaugh led the Buckeyes with 15 points and Bruce Thornton added 13 as Ohio State (6-2) surged in the second half to finish off St. Francis (2-7) in Columbus, Ohio.
