For the second time this season, University of Maine at Farmington senior Jack Kane has been named men’s basketball Defensive Player of the Week by the North Atlantic Conference.
Kane’s latest honor is for the week ending Dec. 4. He also earned the award on Nov. 21.
In two games last week, the Beavers’ center recorded 13 defensive rebounds, seven blocks and two steals. He pulled down seven of his eight rebounds on the defensive end in a loss to University of Southern Maine, along with four blocks and two steals, then notched another eight-rebound game — with six on the defensive glass — in an NAC East victory over Northern Vermont-Lyndon. He added three blocks in the win.

DUMAIS EARNS YSCC HONOR: Oak Hill graduate Desirae Dumais, now a junior guard at University of Maine at Augusta, was named the Player of the Week by the Yankee Small College Conference on Saturday.
Dumais and the Moose played in one game during the week ending Dec. 2, a 97-38 win over Great Bay Community College, but she made her mark with a game-high 23 points to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, five steals and two blocks.
She followed that up with standout games in each of the Moose’s games this past weekend — both victories — with an average of 18 points across the pair of contests.
For the season, Dumais leads UMA in scoring (15.7 points per game), free-throw percentage (85%), rebounds (6.7) and blocks (1.1).
