Miss Apple Blossom pageant crowns 11 winners

LISBON — The third annual Miss Apple Blossom pageant was held Nov. 5 at the Lisbon United Methodist Church.

Eleven winners from different age groups were crowned; they will compete in the 15th annual Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant. This is the largest fundraiser for Crossroads Youth Center, a nonprofit charitable organization, and is scheduled to be held in June 2023 in South Portland, according to a news release from Alison Lee, co-director.

During their reign, the new Apple Blossom titleholders will represent the Crown CARES (Creating a Respectful Environment in Schools and Society) in Maine schools and community events, bringing awareness to social issues, kindness and acceptance.

The winners across age categories were:

Miss Apple Blossom Young Princess, Ruby Martel, 4, of Bangor. Ruby is the daughter of Melissa Martel and Richard Martel. Ruby enjoys being active and participating in cheerleading, dance, swimming and gymnastics.

Miss Apple Blossom Elementary Princess, Paisley Mitchell, 7, of New Gloucester, is the daughter of Felecia Bowen. Paisley loves spending time with family and friends and being on her competitive cheerleading team.

Miss Apple Blossom Preteen Princess, Emilina Rea, 9, of Ellsworth. Emilina is the daughter of Mrs. Apple Blossom Sasha Rea and David Rea, and the sister of Miss Apple Blossom Role Model Izzabella Rea. Emilina is the youngest competing dog sledder in Maine and a Girl Scout. She loves Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and being a positive Role Model for kids who have been bullied or have speech difficulties.

Miss Apple Blossom Teen, Delainy Gillis, 16, of Glenburn, is the daughter of Marcia Gillis and Ian Gillis. Gillis strives to be a role model through her community and school activities by embracing the ideals of kindness and respect.

Miss Apple Blossom Ambassador, Danielle Gamache, 20, of Sabattus.

Mrs. Apple Blossom, Sasha Rea, 28, of Ellsworth, is the mother of Miss Apple Blossom Role Model Izzabella Rea and Miss Apple Blossom Preteen Emilina Rea, and wife to David Rea. Sasha Rea is a head Girl Scout leader of two troops in Ellsworth, is a baker/cook, and has completed more than 800 hours of community service this year. She shares her platform “I’m A Teapot” to help teach self love to anyone who feels inadequate. She is also helping break the stigma for plus size women in pageantry and bringing awareness to women who suffer from PCOS.

Ms. Apple Blossom, Jean Thornton, 37, of Raymond, is the mother of Miss Apple Blossom Spirit Phyllis Horeth. Thornton’s personal platform is to help break the stigma of seeking out help for mental health.

Miss Apple Blossom Spirit, Phyllis Horeth, 4, of Raymond. Phyllis is the daughter of Jean Thornton and James Horeth. Her favorite activities are dancing and coloring.

Miss Apple Blossom Director’s Choice, Madelynn Mishou, 5, of Milford, is the daughter of Susan Mishou and Dwayne Armsworthy. Madelynn’s favorite activists are basketball, cheerleading and Girl Scouts.

Miss Apple Blossom People’s Choice, Eden Deletetsky, 6, is the daughter of Deneka Deletesky of Auburn, and Gard Deletesky. She likes to play soccer and tennis and is a competitive cheerleader and dancer.

Miss Apple Blossom Role Model, Izzabella Rea, 7, of Ellsworth, is the sister of Miss Apple Blossom Preteen Princess Emilina Rea and the daughter of Mrs. Apple Blossom Sasha Rea and David Rea. Izzy, as she likes being called, is a positive role model to young and older girls alike. She gives out safety whistles with her Platform “Stranger Danger,” loves to educate kids on how to be safe and kind in their communities, enjoys ballet, jazz, and tap, and loves to sing.
