NEWRY — Santa Sunday at Sunday River Ski Resort will be held on December 11. They are currently accepting reservations, but have limited availability. All money raised will benefit the River Fund, a non-profit organization that supports youth education and recreation in the Bethel area. Last year’s Santa Sunday, raised over $3,000. for the group. A $25. dollar donation is required to participate.
This year, the first 75 Santas who sign up, using the special form on the Santa Sunday web page, will be eligible for the chance to be in an IMAX video shoot by the Boston Museum of Science.
More than 250 Santas will ski down to South Ridge. Santas arrive at the resort in full attire, beard included.
All pre-registered participants can check-in on Sunday, December 11 between 7:30-10:30AM at South Ridge Lodge before proceeding slope side for the photo shoot. Participants must fill out their waiver and arrive at check-in wearing all of the following: a red Santa hat with white pompom, a red Santa jacket, red Santa pants, a Santa beard.
The lift ticket received at check-in is only valid until 11AM. To continue skiing or riding for the day, Santas will need to show up at the scheduled photo shoot at 11AM, slope side at South Ridge dressed in their Santa attire. After the photo shoot, everyone will go up the South Ridge Express then ski down Broadway (green trail). After the parade down Broadway, Sunday River will validate the ticket to ski and ride for the rest of the day. Santas who participate in the 11AM photo shoot will also receive an additional lift ticket valid until Christmas Eve.
Spectators should go to South Ridge by 11AM to get a good view of the Santas.
