AUBURN — Clara Bandh scored 12 points and Emily Strachan chipped in 10 as Central Maine Community College shook off University of Maine at Augusta for a 57-54 victory in a Yankee Small College Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday.

The Mustangs (28-3) jumped out to a 16-7 lead after one quarter and still held a nine-point lead (25-16) at halftime.

Alisyn Alley scored the game-19 points for the Moose (19-9) and Monmouth grad Kaeti Butterfield helped out with 10.

BATES’ GRAFF EARNS ACCOLADE: Meghan Graff’s 38-point performance in two games the past weekend earned her Maine Co-Player of the Week by the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday.

The Bates senior captain scored 26 points in the Bobcats’ 77-59 over Middlebury on Friday and another 12 points against Williams. She is averaging 21.9 points per game and leads NESCAC in scoring.

MAINE 66, BRYANT 43: Leading 11-10 after one quarter, the Black Bears (12-9, 8-1 America East) used a 22-10 run to roll out to a 32-20 halftime margin and easily handled the Bulldogs (7-16, 0-9) at Orono.

Adrianna Smith led the way for Maine with a double-double of 14 points and 13 boards, while Sera Hodgdon and Olivia Rockwood provided 11 points apiece.

Mariona Planes Fortuny had 15 points to pace Bryant.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
CMCC 82, UMA 75: Boston Caldwell paced the Mustangs with 21 points as they jumped ahead and beat the Moose in Auburn.

Wyatt Hathaway and Jaeden Henderson added 14 points apiece for Central Maine Community College.

Yonas Medfu led all scorers with 26 points for University of Maine at Augusta.

BRYANT 71, MAINE 53: The Bulldogs (14-8, 5-4 America East) grabbed control with a 14-1 run to open the second half as they cruised past the Black Bears (9-13, 3-6) at Smithfield, Rhode Island.

Earl Timberlake led Bryant with 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, Sherif Gross-Bullock chipped in with 16 and Charles Pride added 14.

Ja’Shonte Wright Mcleish had 11 points to lead Maine.

BATES’ CRAVITZ GRABS ROOKIE HONOR: Bates freshman guard Elliott Cravitz turned in two strong performances the past weekend to earn being named Co-Rookie of the Week for a second time in a row. He scored nine points, had two assists and rebounds against Middlebury. Against Williams, he dropped in 10 points and snatched four rebounds.

SWIMMING AND DIVING
BATES’ CASUALLY RECOGNIZED: Bates College sophomore Sophie Casually turned in season-best times in all her events and was named NESCAC’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week on Tuesday. Her efforts also helped lead the Bobcats to a CBB title — something they have not done since the 2016-17 season. She posted record times of 26.2, 55.8 and 200.96 in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle, respectively.
