AUBURN — Safe Voices has planned its first Grown-Up Book Fair for 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Hilton Garden Inn Riverfront, 14 Great Falls Plaza.
The community event and fundraiser aims to bring back the magic one experienced at the school book fairs of elementary school, according to a news release from Grace Kendall, director of development and engagement.
With independent Maine bookstores and artisans, the event will include books, stickers, stationery, and even a throwback Polaroid photo booth.
Event highlights:
• Books will be supplied by Quiet City Books of Lewiston and Devaney, Doak & Garrett Booksellers of Farmington, as well as used book sales from the Auburn, Lewiston, and Turner public libraries;
• A dozen Maine artisans will sell book fair-style products such as stationery, stickers, bookmarks, art, and more;
• The Hilton will provide complimentary popcorn and a cash bar, including a specialty cocktail called the Grown-Up Capri Sun; and
• Maine authors Lynn Steger Strong, author of “Flight,” Melody Paul of “Walking the Recovery Road,” and Lynne Schmidt of “Sexytime” will sign copies of their work.
