LEWISTON — Police arrested Nathaniel Udoroh for allegedly brandishing a gun Saturday during an argument at a youth basketball game at the Lewiston Armory.
Udoroh was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and reckless conduct with a firearm.
Lewiston police responded to the Armory just before noon.
One parent notified the newspaper’s tip email that their child’s Auburn Recreational basketball game was canceled due to a police issue; another said family and teams moved to a different area of the Armory as the incident took place.
“Everyone’s OK, but there was an argument between a couple of guys and it got, I’d say, forced out into the hallway because all the parents with their kids were all like, ‘not here, not in this space,'” said one witness who asked not to be named.
Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said Udoroh and the person he was arguing with were both parents of youth athletes competing at the event. “It appeared they had history,” he said.
No further details were available pending an investigation.
