The Otisfield Winter Carnival 2023 is set to kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the community hall, 292 Oxford Road.

All ages are invited; children must be accompanied by an adult.

The free event offers carnival games, The Silver Circus, a community lunch, make-and-take crafts, cookie decorating, the Classic Cardboard Sled Race, and an Italian dinner, according to a news release from Elaine Doble-Verrill, an organizer.

The weekend before, on Sunday, Feb. 19, families can gather from 1-4 p.m. at the hall to build their cardboard sled. Cardboard and duct tape will be provided.

The carnival kicks off Feb. 25 with inside carnival games, complete with prizes. Outside games will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Andrew Silver of the Silver Circus will offer juggling, magic and physical comedy from noon to 1 p.m. The community lunch takes place from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Lunch is provided by the Spurr’s Corner Church, the Social Outreach Committee and the Dyer family.

At 2 p.m. at the Town Office Annex, registration will take place for the cardboard sled race, which starts at 2 p.m.

The Italian dinner will be served at the community hall from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Donations benefit the Town Office Playground and Winter Fuel Assistance.

Every three years Noreen Edwards digs up her perennial garden and gets others to do the same to raise money so the winter carnival can be free. Even so, donations are always appreciated from those who are able.
