MONMOUTH — Sixth-seeded Monmouth pulled away in the third quarter to down 11th-seeded Sacopee Valley 44-32 in a Class C South girls basketball preliminary game Tuesday.
Monmouth led 16-13 at half before outscoring Sacopee Valley 16-8 in the third quarter. Holly Hunt scored five of her 11 points in the third and Kaitlyn Frost matched that with five of her eight.
Reese Beaudoin led the Mustangs (13-6) with 12 points, including seven in the first quarter when Monmouth took a 13-6 lead. Grace Levesque also scored eight points for the Mustangs, and Rileigh Chase added five.
Brooke Landry scored seven of her game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter, when the Hawks (9-10) tried to make a comeback. Emma Boulanger pitched in with six of her 12 points.
HALL-DALE 71, DIRIGO 39: No. 4 Hall-Dale jumped out to an 11-point halftime lead and never looked back on its way to a win over No. 13 Dirigo in Class C South girls basketball preliminary action in Farmingdale.
Hayden Madore led the Bulldogs (15-4) with 17 points while KJ Greenhalgh added 14 and Marie Benoit 12.
Dirigo (6-14) was led by Jayce Brophy with 16 points and Grace Robbins with 14.

EDWARD LITTLE 9, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE 1: Peyton Dyer and Andrew Clements each had a hat trick for the Red Eddies (12-3) in a win over the Eagles (1-14) at The Colisee in Lewiston.
Dyer also had two assists while Brody Keefe had two goals and an assist. Drew Smith tallied the other goal and Campbell Cassidy had eight assists.
Gerek Theriault scored for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde, with Caleb MacDonald and Dylan Richards recording the assists.
Camren Dufour stopped 18 shots for the win in net while Sam Young and Kai Stockford combined to make 28 saves in the loss.
