FORT KENT — Mountain Valley’s Boulanger sisters placed first and second in the girls slalom at the Class B Alpine skiing state championships Monday at Lonesome Pines.
Jaden Boulanger claimed the slalom state championship with a combined two-run time of 1 minute, 20.52 seconds. Lily Boulanger was about a second behind, finishing in 1:21.59. Rangeley’s Breezy Quimby (1:2185) came in third.
Cape Elizabeth’s Logan Schwartz (1:08.37) is the boys slalom champion. Maranacook’s Thatcher Riley (1:10.89) placed second and Fort Kent’s Max Bois (1:12.01) came in third.
Mt. Abram’s Charlie Pye, the MVC champion in the slalom and giant slalom, placed 10th on Monday.
Winthrop’s Jaxon August was the area’s next highest boys finisher, placing 13th, while teammate Will Grant was 14th and Mountain Valley’s Joel Tardiff came in 15th.
Nate Bliss was Rangeley’s top finisher, taking 18th. Gray-New Gloucester was led by Brayden Russell’s 41st-place showing.
Two other area skiers earned top-10 finishes in the girls race. Rangeley’s Amelia Stokes took seventh and Gray-New Gloucester’s Ava Beaudoin was eighth.
Mt. Abram’s Lily Day took 14th, one spot ahead of Monmouth’s June Foyt. Emma Diaz was Spruce Mountain’s top finisher in the girls race at 45th.
The Class B state championship conclude Tuesday with the giant slalom race at BigRock in Mars Hill.
