BUCKFIELD – Denny Steven Bly, 42, of Buckfield, took his last snowmobile ride on Feb. 17, 2023. He loved snowmobiling and it’s fitting that’s how he would leave this world. He truly enjoyed his winter weekends spent in Millinocket with his snowmobiling crew, including the Cedar Lake Snow Fighters.
Denny was the eldest child, and the favorite, of Steven and Joanne Bly of Buckfield. He set the bar pretty high for his younger sisters, Bethany, Brianna, and Kelly. He spent his whole life in Buckfield, graduating from Buckfield High school in 1998. He spent most of his high school days with his best buddy Luke, rewriting words to country songs and memorizing skits from Cheech and Chong. As well as all the other shenanigans with the Buckfield and Oxford Hills boys.
He also met his better half and the love of his life, Sarah, while in school. They married June 16, 2007, and went on to have two incredible kids, Paige and Zoey. Their dad (or Bruh) was their biggest cheerleader and could usually be heard in the crowd at their basketball games giving the referees some “encouragement”. Paige and Zoey were Denny’s favorite people and they made him laugh a lot.
Denny and Sarah built their home from the ground up with the help of some family and friends over the last 15 years. It was a source of pride for Denny and a wonderful thing to leave his family.
Denny’s dream was to be a stay at home dad but life had other plans. He worked in various fields throughout his life, including owning and operating Bly’s Garage for many years and most recently as the Aggregate and Pit Manager at St Laurent and Son. Denny was a longtime member of Buckfield Fire Department and was proud to serve his community. He had a love for car racing which included the local racing community and Nascar. He had a special affinity for all things Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Denny was the life of the party, known to be the last one to leave and always wanted everyone to have a good time. When someone like that leaves us, it’s easy to sit in your grief. But we all have a story, a memory, or a feeling that he gave us. Sit in those instead. Tell the stories, talk about him, and go for that ride.
Denny is survived by his best friend and wife Sarah; his children Paige and Zoey; his loving parents, Steven and Joanne; his sisters Bethany, Brianna, and Kelly; in laws, Bob and Laurie Peer, David Bradeen; his sisters in law, Katie Peer and Shawna Bradeen; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, his best buddy Silas, and his amazing friends.
Sarah, Paige, Zoey and the rest of the family appreciate the kind words, the offers of help and support, and the love we are being sent daily.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 25, at Buckfield High School, 160 Morrill Street, Buckfield.
