Dana Little of the Androscoggin Land Trust in Auburn seeks at least 10 people to help ready the Lots to Gardens for spring planting.
Those who volunteer are scheduled to meet at 9 a.m Wednesday, April 5, at Hillview Garden, 77 Rideout Ave. in Lewiston, with expected completion time at noon.
Lots to Gardens, a program run by St. Mary’s Health System under the Nutrition Center, serves a diverse population of people who love to garden and need space to grow food for their families, according to a news release from Little.
The rain date will be Friday, April 7, at the same time and place.
Goals include pulling out wood raised beds and replace with concrete blocks, spreading of wood chips and mulch to build paths, and building up beds with compost.
Although heavy lifting may be involved, there is plenty to do that does not involve lifting; all abilities are welcome. The Hillview Garden is handicap accessible.
Tools will be provided. Those who prefer to bring their own tools can do so. Work gloves will be provided, though people may also wish to bring their own.
