SOUTH PARIS — U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Biologist Hannah Mullally plans this month to give a presentation about supporting the state’s native pollinators.
The talk will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in the meeting space of the Oxford County Cooperative Extension, 9 Olson Road.
Those who attend can learn about bees, butterflies and hoverflies. Mullally will discuss the breadth of Maine’s native pollinators, their importance in the ecosystem and food supply, and how to support the creatures.
She will especially focus on utilizing native plants in creating pollinator habitat, according to a news release from Chantelle Hay, Education and Outreach coordinator.
After gaining inspiration for ones gardens, attendees can choose to pick up order forms for the Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District Native Plant & Seed Sale. All proceeds go towards supporting its programs.
This event is free. Participants are asked to register no later than Tuesday, April 18, by visiting oxfordcountyswcd.org.
