MINOT — A family of four survived a blaze Saturday morning that heavily damaged their home and killed their dog, Auburn Deputy Fire Chief Matthew Fifield said Tuesday.
The fire at 187 West Minot Road started near the back of the 1½-story house and spread into it, he said.
The home was not insured and the damage likely destroyed most possessions, Fifield said.
The cause is under investigation by the Office of Maine State Fire Marshal.
Fire crews from Auburn, Buckfield, Hebron, Mechanic Falls, Oxford, Paris, Poland and Turner responded at about 10:23 a.m.
