FARMINGTON — A fifth-inning single in the second loss of the day wasn’t enough to help the University of Maine at Farmington baseball team against rival Husson, but for fifth-year senior Hunter LaBossiere it meant he was the new program record-holder in career hits.

The base hit was the 128th in a Beavers uniform for the Oxford Hills grad. It moved former Vikings teammate Jonny Pruett to second before Jameson Bloch drove Pruett home for the lone UMaine-Farmington run in an 8-1 loss to the Eagles.

LaBossiere’s record-breaking hit came in his final game at Hippach Field. The Beavers close out their season Sunday at Husson in Bangor.

The visiting Eagles (17-16) beat the Beavers (7-29) 8-2 in the first game.

Leavitt grad Matt Wallingford earned the win for Husson, scattering two hits and one run while striking out seven in five innings.

Mt. Blue grad Sam Wrigley took the loss for UMaine-Farmington, giving up four hits and three runs in 5 1/3 innings. Will Cauchon and Danny Terhune drove in the runs for the Beavers.
