NORTH ANSON — Trenton Hutchinson had five hits, knocked in three runs and scored five in Dirigo’s overwhelming 14-4 victory over Carrabec in a Mountain Valley Conference baseball game on Saturday.
The Cougars (8-3) used 18 hits to subdue the Cobras (1-9).
Austin Adams also had four hits for Dirigo and Airick Richard went the distance on the mound, striking out four batters, walking one and giving up four hits.
TELSTAR 4, WINTHROP 3: Brody Walker singled in Wyatt Lilly to tie the game, then Walker scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh as the Rebels (1-10) earned their first victory of the season with a win over the Ramblers (9-4) in Bethel.
Will Doyle, Anthony Conant and Lilly all singled for Telstar. Walker also earned the win on the mound, allowing just one hit while striking out five in seven innings.
SOFTBALL
ST. DOM’S 27, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 7: Emily Andrews and Ellia Dick each collected four hits to help steer the Saints (5-7) past the Seagulls (2-11) in five innings in Auburn.
Saint Dominic Academy erupted with 15 runs in the second inning. Kassidy Cote, Dick, Aiva Dorman, Chloe Croteau, Andrews and Sophia Franciose (three hits in the game) all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Maddie Andrews was credited with the pitching victory for the Saints. She went five innings, allowing five hits and seven runs while striking out six.
Saint Dominic Academy racked up 22 hits in the game.
Old Orchard scattered five hits in the game.
MT. ABRAM 9, TELSTAR 2: Adrianna Stinchfield struck out 11 batters, walked four and also homered as the Roadrunners (4-8) sidestepped the Rebels (3-7) in Bethel.
Abi Wilcox and Ayanna Savage each had two hits for Mt. Abram.
Makenzie Eliot belted a two run-homer to centerfield in the sixth inning to for the Rebels. Payton Berry had a pair of hits, including a triple.
WINTHROP 11, TELSTAR 5: Ella Rice hammered out three hits and drove in three runs as the Ramblers (7-5) ran past the Rebels (3-8) in Bethel. It was Telstar’s second game of the day against MVC competition.
Lauryn Wood tripled and drove in two runs for Winthrop. Haley Williams went the distance on the mound, striking out 10 batters and walking one. For the day, Winthrop had 17 hits to Telstar’s 10.
Karen Marshall had three hits and drove in a run for the Rebels, and Vivienne Charette, Makenzie Eliot and Morgan Zetts each added two hits. Pitcher Maylyn Hastings was tagged for the loss for Telstar while striking out eight batters.
EDWARD LITTLE 17, MT. ARARAT 5: Madisyn Scott tallied four hits and two RBIs as the Red Eddies (7-6) used a potent offense to put away the Eagles (0-12) in five innings in Topsham.
Scott was one of five Edward Little hits to record a double, along with Amanda Raymond, Tiana Avila, Kylee Lebrun and Emily Horton. LeBrun and Alexis Kelsea each had two hits in the game.
Leah Thibodeau scattered five hits in five innings while striking out four.
Kennedy Lampert drove in two RBIs for Mt. Ararat and Libby Rhoades scored twice. Each had a hit.
OXFORD HILLS 4, BANGOR 1: Kyeria Morse went the distance, striking out 10 batters and scattering three hits in the Vikings’ (10-1) win against the Rams (4-8) in South Paris.
Gigi DeVivo got the Vikes off to a good start in the first inning. She singled, moved to second on Maddy Miller’s double and both came home on Kaydence Morse’s two-run single up the middle to give Oxford Hills a 2-0 lead. The Vikings added two more runs in the fifth.
Bangor got on the board in the sixth inning. Taylor Coombs got on with a hit and scored later on an error.
DIRIGO 19, CARRABEC 1: Nikole Turnbull had four hits and Jace Brophy added three in Dirigo’s (6-5) five-inning victory over Carrabec (1-11) in North Anson.
Emma Hebert hammered out a pair of doubles, and Grace Robbins and Lana Waite also collected two hits apiece. Dirigo scored six runs in the second inning and produced seven runs in the fourth inning.
Robbins went the distance, striking out four batters, walking one and giving up three hits. She took a shutout into the fifth.
GIRLS LACROSSE
BANGOR 18, EDWARD LITTLE 13: Kiersten Daigle scored nine goals to lead the Rams (4-6) past the Red Eddies (2-7) in Auburn.
Edward Little’s Izzy Hayes had nine goals and Kaelyn Langlois added two.
