BETHEL — Beginning with a musical prelude at 10:45 am, the Mundt-Allen Post 81 of the American Legion will hold a Memorial Day observance at the Veterans Memorial on Main Street in Bethel this coming Monday, May 29 at 11 am. It will be a simple but elegant ceremony and everyone is welcome to attend, said Commander Scott Cole. There will be plenty of room to stand, and if you prefer a seat, bring a chair.
In Woodstock the Memorial Day program starts at 1pm in front of the Veterans Monument. Four Woodstock Elementary School 5th graders will read essays they wrote about what Memorial Day means to them. Following the ceremony, there will be a small parade to the Lakeside Cemetery.
West Paris parade participants will line up at the Ring-McKeen American Legion on Church Street at 10:30 am on Monday, May 29 and march to the Finnish Cemetery on Pioneer Street. In addition to the speeches, the Oxford Hills High School Band will perform, said Doreen Wilbur, the wife of Commander, Harold Wilbur.
