NAPLES — Poland rebounded from one of its two losses of the season by avenging its first loss of the season with a 3-0 WMC softball win over Lake Region on Wednesday.

Gretchyn Paradis pitched a complete-game shutout for the Knights (12-2). She struck out six and allowed five hits. Khloe O’Leary and Nicole Rioux each doubled for Poland, with O’Leary’s driving in a run in the seventh inning. Poland also scored two runs in the fourth.

Melissa Mayo struck out 10 and allowed three hits in a complete-game effort for the Lakers (9-3). Margo Tremblay had two of the Lakers’ five hits.

Lake Region, currently ranked third in the Class B South Heal point standings, defeated Poland 7-1 on April 26. The Knights, who are fourth in B South, won their next nine games before falling to region-leading York 4-1 on Monday.

OAK HILL 9, LISBON 7: The Raiders (9-6) broke open the game with a six-run fifth inning on their way to a rivalry win against the Greyhounds (3-10) in Wales.

Ava Rivet had a single and three RBIs for Oak Hill. Kelsey Young hit two singles and drove in a run. Aubrey McElhaney had a triple and an RBI, and Carlee Austin doubled and drove in a run. Saryn Blais also had a RBI.

Lisbon’s Ellie Burkhardt had a double and two RBIs, while Abrianna Bright doubled and one RBI, Maria Levesque recorded two singles and an RBI, and Ava Kottman drove in a run.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 15, ST. DOMINIC 5: Maddy Dow had three hits and two RBI, Tessa Ferguson added two hits and two RBI, and the Seagulls (3-12) cruised past the Saints (7-7) in a six-inning game at Old Orchard Beach.

Summer St. Louis held St. Dom’s to three hits. She also had two hits and an RBI.

Emily Andrews and Sophia Francoise hit an RBI single each for St. Dom’s.

BASEBALL
OAK HILL 3, LISBON 0: Kyle Delano helped out from the mound and at the plate as the Raiders (12-2) blanked the Greyhounds (9-4) in Wales.

Delano pitched the first six innings and limited Lisbon to three hits while striking out 11 batters. Jordan Castonguay finished off the win with a scoreless seventh, earning a save.

Delano, Ethan Vattaso and Landen Denis each had two hits for Oak Hill. Delano drove in a run and scored one, Denis knocked in two runs and Vattaso scored twice.

Jimmy Fitzsimmons led Lisbon with two hits. Cody Osmond fanned eight and allowed six hits in six innings on the mound.

POLAND 2, LAKE REGION 0: Junior Adam Gwarjanski won a pitchers’ duel in the Knights’ (6-8) shutout win over the Lakers (1-13) in Naples.

Gwarjanski allowed only three hits and tallied 10 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings. Regan Cohen struck out the only batter he faced to end the game and earn a save.

Lake Region pitcher Jacob Chadbourne went the distance, striking out 12 and allowing six hits.

Regan Cohen and Aiden MacFawn each had a double and drove in a run for Poland. Gene Grant and Sam Paladino contributed two singles apiece.

Brock Gibbons singled twice for the Lakers.

FREEPORT 12, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6: Ben Bolduc hit a double and a single and drove in three runs to help the Falcons (8-6) beat the Patriots (2-13) in Gray.

Gus Hollen had three singles and two RBI for Freeport, while William Maneikis singled twice and brought home two runs. Zane Aguiar and Harry Walker also had two RBI.

Ian Libby drove in four runs for Gray-New Gloucester with a home run and a single. Jake Maschino contributed a single and a double, and Kaiden Chase hit two singles.

ST. DOM’S 11, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Saints (10-4) pitcher Tim Ouellette shutout the Seagulls (2-13) in Old Orchard Beach.

Ouellette struck out six in five innings to earn the win.
