CHICAGO — Shohei Ohtani homered in consecutive innings, including a 459-foot drive that was the longest of his Major League Baseball career, and drove in four runs to lead the Los Angeles Angels over the Chicago White Sox 12-5 Wednesday.

Mike Trout put the Angels ahead 2-0 with a 476-foot home run in the first that was four rows shy of clearing the left-field bleachers. Taylor Ward also went deep as the Angels hit four two-run homers plus a solo shot.

Ohtani drove a first-pitch fastball from Lance Lynn (4-6) just to left of straightaway center in the third, where the ball was dropped by a fan who tried to glove it. That 425-foot drive put the Angels ahead 4-1.

Ohtani is batting .269 with 15 homers and 38 RBI to go along with a 5-1 record and 2.91 ERA.

TIGERS 3, RANGERS 2: Jake Rogers hit a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and Jake Marisnick followed with a run-scoring single in his Tigers debut, leading Detroit over visiting Texas.

Texas took 2 of 3 and has won six straight road series for the first time. The Rangers went 18-9 in May and their 35-20 record is the team’s best 55-game start.

Marcus Semien extended his hitting streak to 20 games with a double in the third for Texas.

GUARDIANS 12, ORIOLES 8: John Naylor homered, had a career-high four hits and drove in six runs to highlight a rare power display by visiting Cleveland.

Josh Bell and Gabriel Arias also went deep for the Guardians, who had gone 264 consecutive plate appearances without a long ball before Naylor went deep in the fourth inning. Cleveland notched season highs in runs and hits (17), scoring in double figures for the first time in a nine-inning game.

Anthony Santander homered for Baltimore and Aaron Hicks had two hits and scored twice in his Orioles’ debut before leaving with muscle cramps.

INTERLEAGUE

RAYS 4, CUBS 3: Brandon Lowe and Jose Siri each hit two-run homers late in the game, Jalen Beeks got the final two outs after coming in with the bases loaded and Tampa Bay won at Chicago to avoid a three-game sweep.

Kevin Kelly came into the game in the ninth for Tampa Bay and walked Mike Tauchman and hit a pinch-hitter Edwin Ríos. Third baseman Isaac Paredes then bounced the throw trying to get the runner at second after fielding Patrick Wisdom’s grounder, loading the bases.

Beeks came in and struck out Miles Mastrobuoni swinging at a 3-2 pitch. He fell behind 3-0 to Yan Gomes before retiring him on a line drive to left field to end the game and came away with his first save this year.

BREWERS 4, BLUE JAYS 2: Abraham Toro hit a two-run home run, Owen Miller had two hits and drove in a pair or runs and Milwaukee won at Toronto.

BRAVES 4, ATHLETICS 2: Ozzie Albies hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in a three-run fifth inning as visiting Atlanta beat Oakland.

Coming off their second pair of consecutive wins, the A’s lost for the 20th time in 24 games and fell to 12-46. They are 24 1/2 games behind AL West-leading Texas.

Oakland drew just 6,429 to the Coliseum, the 22nd time in 31 home games attendance has been under 10,000.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

PIRATES 9, GIANTS 4: Bryan Reynolds drove in three runs and made a leaping catch against the wall, helping Pittsburgh win at San Francisco to climb back above .500.

Former Giants Andrew McCutchen and Connor Joe each went 3 for 4 with an RBI as the Pirates (28-27) won consecutive games after dropping below .500 for the first time since they were 1-2. Pittsburgh is 8-19 following a 20-8 start.

NATIONALS 10, DODGERS 6: Luis García hit a tie-breaking three-run homer in the eighth inning, Keibert Ruiz added two more of Washington’s five homers, and the visiting Nationals avoided a series sweep .

García had been in a 2-for-22 slump since his six-hit game against Kansas City last week, but he connected for a two-out, two-strike shot down the right-field line off Brusdar Graterol (2-2) to put Washington up 8-5.

MARLINS 2, PADRES 1: Jean Segura and Nick Fortes singled in runs against Josh Hader in the ninth inning, and Miami overcame Gary Sánchez’s first home run for San Diego in winning at home.

METS 4, PHILLIES 1: Mark Canha homered and drove in four runs to lead Carlos Carrasco and host New York past slumping Philadelphia.

Carrasco (2-2) pitched six efficient innings to win his second consecutive start. Canha hit a two-run homer in the third and a two-run single with two outs in the fourth off Aaron Nola (4-4).

Edmundo Sosa homered off Carrasco for the Phillies (25-30), who lost their third straight and matched a season low at five games under .500.

NOTES

TIGERS:  Center fielder Riley Greene was put on the 10-day injured list because of a stress fracture in his left leg.

Greene was injured during Detroit’s 10-6 loss to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday and left the game in the third inning. He was sent for tests and an MRI showed a stress fracture in his left fibia.

ALL-STAR GAME: Online voting began Wednesday for starters in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game at Seattle on July 11.

An individual may cast up to five votes per 24-hour period through noon on June 22 on MLB.com, the 30 team websites, the MLB App and the MLB Ballpark App.

The top two players in each league at each position other than outfield plus the top six outfielders in each league will be announced on June 22 starting at 6 p.m. on the MLB Network. The top overall vote-getter in each league will start in the All-Star Game and bypass the second round of balloting.

The second phase of voting, which does not carry over from the first round, runs from noon on June 26 through noon on June 29. An individual can vote once per 24-hour period.

Remaining starters will be announced on June 29 beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN. Pitchers and reserves will be announced on July 2 starting at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN.
