Experience mattered at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday.

Veteran racers went 1-2 in the Oxford Championship Series Super Late Model division, and third-place finisher Dave Farrington Jr. has already amassed quite the resume despite being the youngster on the podium.

Scott Moore won his first feature in almost four years with his 50-lap victory Saturday. The Anson native’s previous win was Aug. 3, 2019. Former track champion Tim Brackett of Buckfield was the runner-up to Moore on Saturday.

Other winners on Saturday included Nate Leavitt (Limiteds), Jordan Russell (Street Stocks), Spencer Moore (Thunder Stocks), Tyler Connolly (Rookies), Greg Durgin (Figure 8s), Larry Lalame (Wicked Good Early Late Models A) and Nick Cusack (Wicked Good Early Late Models B).

BENJAMIN GOES 2-FOR-2 IN GSPSS

Three-time Oxford 250 champ Travis Benjamin has made himself comfortable in the Granite State Pro Stock Series this season.

The Morrill, Maine, native has now captured each of the first two features in the New Hampshire-based series’ 2023 campaign. Benjamin’s latest victory came Saturday at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire.

Benjamin held off defending champion Joey Dorion to win the 100-lap race. Brandon Barker rounded out the podium.

The Granite State Pro Stock Series series will make its next stop in Maine, at Speedway 95 in Hermon on June 24.

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY

While Oxford Plains Speedway was able to get its Oxford Championship Series action in amidst the rainy weather on Saturday, Wiscasset Speedway wasn’t able to do the same for its Group 1 divisions.

It’s the second straight Group 1 weekend that has been washed out. The Wiscasset Speedway Facebook page posted that the track “will try to come up with a plan to make up a group 1 program at a later date.”

The Pro All Stars Series event that was scheduled for Sunday also was quashed by rain. That event has been rescheduled to this coming Sunday, June 11, with the PASS SLMs and Mods and Oxford Plains Speedway Mad Bombers all slated to be in action.

The New England Supermodified Series — which is run by PASS — is scheduled to open its second season on Friday at Thunder Road in Barre, Vermont. The series is scheduled to visit Oxford Plains Speedway on July 8.
