tsBETHEL — Tracyn Thayer of Birch Bog organic cranberry farm hosted a Behind the Scenes tour for the Western Mountains Senior College.

This photo shows Tracyn demonstrating the 1913 cranberry sorting machine; another shows some of the group viewing the bog, with water being drained off the bushes and into the fish pond. The cranberries are harvested in October/November.
The Fall term for Senior College starts in September, and those interested in receiving the course bulletin can write to wmsc@msad44.edu. Anyone over 18 may participate, and the first course is free.
