SABATTUS — Two volunteers from Sabattus, Jennifer Birt and Terri Ashton, recently received the Appreciation Pin from the Girl Scouts of Maine.
The pin is an award bestowed upon a volunteer or staff member who provides exemplary service in support of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and who has had a measurable impact on two or more troops in one or more geographic areas.

Birt, a committed leader of two different troops within the Dirigo Service Unit, is recognized by fellow volunteers for her fresh ideas and high energy when it comes to working with other leaders and Girl Scouts.
Her girls look up to Birt with pride when they see her firsthand success, as do the adult members who work alongside her, according to a news release from Helen Ruhlin with Girls Scouts of Maine.
As a troop leader and volunteer within the Dirigo Service Unit, Ashton stays busy throughout the year.
Her contributions and assistance with the Safety Day committee have made her a crucial part of the planning, organizing and successful establishment of Dirigo-wide events and activities.
