NORWAY — Norway Savings Bank has donated $20,000 to the Lights Out Gallery at 10 Tannery St.
The founders, along with many volunteers, are renovating a 117-year-old former snowshoe factory to become a contemporary art gallery and a home to many of the community’s art-related businesses and nonprofits.
Since purchasing the 15,000-square-foot building in February 2022, Daniel Sipe, Karlë Woods and Reed McLean have directed its transformation into a dance studio, makerspace, shared offices, studios and an artists’ gallery.
“Norway has always been a really interesting hotbed in the arts,” McLean said. “There are artists, writers, poets and there is a big performing arts scene in Norway. So, I think it is a natural place for a project like this.”
